The Food Sourcing Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring that Berkeley Food Network can bring in enough food for our community. This role will report to the Senior Operations Manager to guarantee enough products are being sourced to supply BFN’s many distribution programs. Major responsibilities include seeking out new sourcing partners, building and creating relationships with current sourcing partners, facilitation of incoming goods into the warehouse and regular delivery of food to BFN’s distribution partners. Additionally this role will assist with the coordination of warehouse operations including preparing orders, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and working with volunteers. Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours/week. Non-Exempt/Hourly. Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm, possibly additional hours as scheduled with Supervisor. Essential Duties & Responsibilities |

Food Sourcing 60% - Interact daily with multiple vendors and distribution partners to source food for BFN’s distribution programs. - Identify and engage new food recovery and donation sources to support compliance with SB 1383 and BFN’s food quality standards. - Regularly pick up food from BFN’s sourcing partners in the Bay Area. - Regularly visit and communicate with BFN’s current sourcing partners to make sure that the relationship is beneficial for all parties involved. - Work with the Receiving Coordinator to facilitate the receipt of incoming products. - Regular analysis of sourcing and distribution data to optimize BFN’s sourcing strategy. Warehouse Operations 20% - Assist with receiving orders and making sure they are put away in a timely manner. - Assist with preparing orders for programs and distribution partners by processing requests, pulling materials, packing boxes, and placing orders in the distribution area and/or organization vehicles. - Assist with and coordinate various volunteer activities, including food sorting, food deliveries, and food pick-ups. - Maintain safe and clean facilities and work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintain clean shipping supply area; and participate in daily cleaning processes. - Assist with warehouse tasks such as checking refrigerators and freezer temperature, coordination of trash, recycling, and compost removal as needed, and ongoing BFN vehicle cleaning as needed. Deliveries 15% - Deliver BFN products to our network of distribution partners in a safe and timely manner. - Reviews and verifies invoices to maintain accuracy. - Regularly inspects delivery vehicles to ensure the safety and security of the loading and unloading process. - Maintains delivery logs and records. Organizational Support 5% -Participate in network calls with other food recovery organizations. - Giving tours to prospective food donors. - Assists Operations Team with warehouse coverage as needed. - Support other tasks as needed based on organizational demands. |

Required Qualifications -Ability to prioritize tasks and flexibility to reassess based on changing circumstances. -Communication and people skills to successfully interact with a variety of community members. -Basic computer skills and using Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail). -2 Years Experience working in a warehouse, food service, or similar environment. -Willingness to learn forklift and pallet jack operation. -Must have a valid California driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications - Food Justice or Community Service desired. - Experience and comfort operating a forklift and/or pallet jack. - Knowledge of food recovery and SB 1383 - Knowledge of food production and agricultural landscape in Northern California. - Experience with software including Primarius and Airtable Personal Attributes -Problem-solving mindset - Highly organized and able to effectively manage time, including punctuality. -Collaborative approach to achieving objectives. -High level of personal responsibility and accountability to assigned tasks. -Cordial and helpful communication style with staff, volunteers, pantry members and partners. -Eager to learn and grow professionally. |

This is a full-time, exempt hybrid position working Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional hours beyond this scheduled in collaboration (37.5 hours per week). The rate of pay for this position is $27.00/hour.
