Building a Food-Secure Future for Berkeley and Beyond

At Berkeley Food Network, we envision a community where everyone has reliable access to the nourishing food and resources they need. BFN is driven to advance our new mission of building a food-secure future for Berkeley and beyond by deepening the collaborations that will make this possible.

After months of collaboration among the Berkeley Friends Church, the Berkeley Food Pantry Oversight Committee, and the Berkeley Food Network, we are pleased to share that the Berkeley Food Pantry, Berkeley’s oldest-operating pantry, will be joining the Berkeley Food Network’s suite of food assistance programming. By bringing Berkeley Food Pantry’s storied program to Berkeley Food Network, Berkeley residents will have continued and expanded access to food for years to come.

The Berkeley Food Pantry, a ministry of Berkeley Friends Church, has provided food and support to residents in Berkeley and Albany for 56 years. The Berkeley Food Pantry has partnered with Berkeley Food Network for several years as one of our Distribution Partners committed to ending hunger in Berkeley, and has sourced food from our warehouse for their programs.

Management of the Berkeley Food Pantry will be transitioning to the Berkeley Food Network over the course of 2025. Beginning in January 2026, the Berkeley Food Network will fully manage the operation of the Berkeley Food Pantry.

This exciting new chapter will expand opportunities for our community to access food in a dignified, compassionate way.
