| The Development & Communications Coordinator is an integral member of our Advancement team and supports our earned and contributed revenue efforts including individual, foundation, corporate, government, and event fundraising. This position will oversee efforts to improve and maintain development operations tools, track grant applications and reporting deadlines, and support Salesforce data entry and report generation. This position also supports internal and external communications work, including digital and social media, public relations, advertising, and visual design. This position reports to the Senior Development Manager. The ideal candidate has meticulous attention to detail, is a clear and compassionate communicator, and has experience with constituent relationship management systems (CRMs), grassroots fundraising, and project management. The ideal candidate will also enjoy capturing compelling visual and personal stories to help boost BFN's fundraising and storytelling efforts. Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours/week. Non-Exempt/Hourly. | Development & Fundraising 40% CRM & Database Management - Enter and acknowledge gifts and input solicitation and stewardship information. - Manage donor profiles in constituent relationship management (CRM) database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information; perform routine data cleanup and hygiene - Generate reports to assist in tracking donor activities and fundraising progress, such as daily donation reports with items for Advancement team follow-up Direct Mail Campaign Support - Support the execution and planning of annual fund campaigns by preparing and segmenting donor lists; executing mail merge processes; reviewing Board donor lists - Enter offline gifts into donation portals to track giving history and inform relationship holder when a gift is made by their contact - Coordinate the printing and processing of annual fund mailings, working with volunteers to ensure accurate and timely letter processing Fundraising Tool Support - Support optimization of donation tools including web-based donation services and tap-to-donate - Provide updated information to third-party sites, such as Charity Navigator, Guidestar, BBB Wise Giving Alliance, donor-advised fund portals, and gift matching portals Grant Support 25% -Assist in prospect research for new grant opportunities - Maintain grant calendars and ensure timely submissions for grant webinars, Letters of Intent, concept papers, grant applications, and reports - Maintain updated funder portfolios, accounts, and organizational information for applications - Assist with planning of funder briefings Events & Outreach 25% - Work with Senior Development Manager and Volunteer & Outreach Manager to conduct outreach to local businesses and organizations to secure event sponsorships for food, door prizes, and other event items - Using Canva, create visually appealing fliers, outreach materials, and social media graphics. -Assist with updates to the Berkeley Food Network website content. - Provide planning and logistical support for in-house and external events and outreach - Represent Berkeley Food Network at external events - Interview community members, volunteers, and partners in our work to highlight the impact BFN has on food insecurity - Generate collateral as needed for fliers, notices, events, and annual reports - Develop social media content calendar, create and post content, respond to comments, elevates concerns as needed; track basic engagement metrics - Create and distribute newsletter - Support communications strategy using MailChimp to send timely newsletters and fundraising appeals Administration 10% - Participate in Advancement team meetings, including planning and evaluation of development and communications activities and annual planning - Assist with creation of slide decks and reports for Board meetings - Participate in cross-departmental committees and events, such as all-staff meetings and strategic planning processes - Support other tasks as needed based on organizational demands. |

| Required Qualifications -1-2 years experience in fundraising, communications, or marketing. -Familiarity with best practices in social media content creation, including Reels. -Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools. -Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications -Experience with Salesforce or other donor management systems (CRMs) is strongly preferred. -Experience working at a volunteer-oriented nonprofit or similar community organization. -Some knowledge of food systems, public health issues, and the many structural injustices, inequalities, and histories causing hunger and/or poverty. | The compensation for this position is $30/hour.
